Nunnery Wood Primary School

MFL

Please use the document below to find how we teach MFL at Nunnery Wood Primary

At Nunnery Wood Primary School, we aim to deliver a high-quality French curriculum, which will ensure that children develop a love of language learning and an awareness of other cultures. We want pupils to develop the confidence to communicate in French for practical purposes, using both written and spoken French. We believe our languages curriculum is designed to enhance pupils’ curiosity, communication skills and global awareness.

Throughout the French units, pupils will learn to develop:

• purposeful dialogue to use in practical situations.

• the ability to speak and read aloud with confidence and accuracy in pronunciation.

• an understanding of spoken language by listening and responding appropriately.

• the ability to make increasingly accurate attempts to read unfamiliar words and phrases.

• a growing understanding of French culture.
