Nunnery Wood Primary School

Governors

The Local Governing Body is a team of volunteers who willingly give their time, working with school staff to ensure the best possible provision for children.

At Nunnery Wood Primary School we have a 9 strong Governing Body and a Clerk. Membership comprises of:

                        Clerk to Governors

Richard Bidwell - Staff Governor 01/09/2023 - 31/08/2027

Andy McClelland - Parent Governor/Vice Chair 27/02/23 - 26/02/27

Andy became a parent governor at Nunnery Wood Primary (NWPS) in April 2019 when his two sons attended the school. Since 2022, he has been a Co-opted Governor, Chair of the Finance & Staffing Committee and Vice Chair. Andy works as a senior manager for a multinational energy technology company. As a governor, his aim is to use his experience in leadership, management, finances and problem-solving to support the Head Teacher and staff to provide the best education for all the children in the school. Andy has no additional business or financial interests.

Chris Husband - Parent Governor 12/10/2022 - 11/10/2026

Chris became a parent governor at the end of 2022 as he hoped he could add some value to the governors' team and the school in their aims to continually improve the school and outcomes for the students. Chris has twins in year 2, and has really enjoyed the start to the role. He is currently an Assistant Headteacher at a school for secondary-aged students with social, emotional and mental health issues in Sandwell, and hopes to bring some of his experience and knowledge to the table to support Mrs. Higgins and her team.

Outside of school, he has a love of football and has been a referee for 25 years, currently acting as an Assistant Referee in the EFL. He enjoys most sports, eating out and generally trying his best to occasionally be in charge in his household!!!

Rachel Higgins - Headteacher

Rachel has been the Headteacher of Nunnery Wood Primary School since September 2015, and feels she is very fortunate to have a Governing Body that is so committed to the continual improvement of our school. Doing the best for pupils is at the heart of all decision-making, and we work hard together to ensure we provide the best education for all children.

Therefore, as part of the Governing Body, Rachel provides relevant information. She is held to account for actions taken and works with the Governing Body to effectively self-evaluate our school and consider the impact of the actions that are taken.

Beth O'Sullivan - Co-opted Governor 05/03/2024 - 04/03/2028

Beth has been a parent governor since July 2016, and she sits on two committees (Finance and Staffing and Safeguarding and SEND).  She is also the nominated Safeguarding Governor. Beth has one son who attends this school. She works for Worcestershire County Council on various data collections within education, including the statutory School Census, which is the main data source by which schools are funded by the Department for Education. As a governor, Beth wants to bring her working knowledge and experience to the direct benefit of the school. Beth cares deeply that pupils at Nunnery Wood Primary receive a high-quality education that enables them all to reach their full potential, and that they receive the best possible experiences from their time at the school.

Jo Hart - Parent Governor 06/03/2023 - 05/03/2027

Jo has been parent governor at Nunnery Wood Primary School since March 2023, and she has two girls currently at the school in years 3 and 4. Jo became a parent governor because she wanted to go the extra step in supporting her children and other students education. Her role has given Jo valuable insight into the school and she will continue to support the school to remain a safe and enjoyable environment for all.

Richard Harding - Parent Governor/Chair  13/12/2024 - 12/12/2028
